12. WHY ARE YOU SAD? (COMPARISON)
You want, that everything around you to feel good and also you want to live a blissful life. But something bothers you, makes you sad. You know that an unhappy mind cannot do anything good. If you are ill, your health is not good, then I cannot say anything because it may be due to some kind of chemical change in your biological structure or it can be due to some kind of damage in the body. This is natural. But if you are capable in every way and feeling physically good but you are mentally disturbed and unhappy. Let’s talk about comparison.
Why is it so?
There can be many sources of your troubles and sorrows, but they all originate from having a specific mind-set, and it is an essential virtue in humans. Do you know what it is? This is “comparison”. Whether you compare yourself to others or not. Must have done. You are upset because you compare yourself to others. Do not consider comparison as competition, competition is a different thing. In the competition you will try to overtake your opponent, but in comparison you will never be able to overtake that person. You will start living the person you compare yourself with. You will try to make yourself like him. You start changing yourself. You try to change your circumstances like that. Even after doing so much, you are not able to be like him, even if you become one, by then he has overtaken you, and all these things bother you and make you sad. If you had competed with him, you could have surpassed him, but you took him as your ideal and made him great by living his life. I ask what you are lacking. Why can’t you do it yourself? Look at the deficiencies you see in yourself and eliminate them.
Before proceeding further, let me tell you that my motive is not to hurt your feelings at all. I am not imposing my thoughts on you, but if you learn to accept the truth then it will not take time for life to be pleasant. If you keep comparing yourself to someone, you may also lose your ability to make a new identify. Your identity will be lost and the benefit will be given to the person with whom you will proceed by comparison.
You must be thinking that if we do not compare ourselves to anyone then how will we be able to recognize our shortcomings. You are thinking right. In the process of life, you also do the work of learning and for this only teacher is found or you can also overcome your shortcomings by self-study. Learning is a different process. It may be related to comparison, but it is not comparison
If someone buy a motorbike to your neighbourhood then you also think I wish I had a motorbike too. You try if you do not have that much money, then you borrow from someone, or by selling something or working hard, you bring a motorbike in a few days. Compared yourself and how happy you are today, you think that it is right that you bought a bike on the pretext, really you are stepping towards the rich.
I can say with confidence that you will not be satisfied with this, you will be upset or sad because your circumstances are not matching with that of your neighbour. The second thing is that the person started earlier so he will be different.
If you are a student, then it is very important for you to keep this fact with you at all times. If you live with this fact, then in a very short time you will be able to create a different identity. If you are the fastest in your class, then you will have absolutely no idea that you do not compare yourself to anyone or do; Maybe you don’t, and that’s why you’re the fastest. If you are in a middle position in your class, then you will probably learn from the fastest student by comparing them and follow the same. Let me tell you that from the day you start studying on your own, without comparing yourself to anyone, from the same day you will see that there will be tremendous and positive change in you. Glad you be successful. You are unique like no one else can be. You start.
