Chapter – 9. CAN MORE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STOP YOU FROM SUCCEEDING?

9. CAN MORE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STOP YOU FROM SUCCEEDING?

What is knowledge and experience? Perhaps both these things are complementary to each other. Both go together, if there is a tree of knowledge, then experience is its shadow. There is no place of experience in the absence of knowledge. Your knowledge and experience can destroy your own or other’s ego or even make you egoistic and selfish. It depends what kind of knowledge is in your brain. The topic we are going to discuss here is very important for creating a better future and a beautiful society and nation. Our brain has the ability to receive infinite knowledge. This is a unique gift of this nature. In the early stages of life when we are small this is the time in which we live a natural life. Gradually we live an unnatural life, bound by some rules. We start learning slowly, there is a tremendous change in our knowledge and experience. And it should happen.
I want to talk about that critical time when you think that I do not understand anything. My brain is not working. It is usually seen more in students. They say I study but can’t remember anything. I used to be very fast before but now I have to read the same thing again and again. Let me tell you that this problem occurs in 90% of the students. But why does this happen? When we are moving forward in the development process, then we try to take as much knowledge and experience from every field. After some time, we feel that we have a lot of knowledge in every field. As we grow older we keep trying to get more and more knowledge and experiences from the people and books around us. And gradually we also recognize that we have become very knowledgeable and experienced. This imaginary experience greatly increases our attitude and ego and it also prevents us from constantly fighting. We are unable to do any work without constantly getting frustrated and change our goal. Similarly, we keep changing our goals till we see our shortcomings.
In today’s age, people think that more knowledge and experience is everything, but it is not so that more knowledge and experience can also be a hindrance in your success. This can stop you before starting anything new. You will feel that all this is very easy, you already know all this and that is why you do not even get a good start. Maybe I am wrong about this fact but you should pay close attention to it.
What should we do so that we always maintain ourselves in such a way that we do not feel any hindrance in starting anything new or struggling hard in future. When we are moving forward in our development process, then we should not associate yourself with more things. We should associate ourselves with only a few essential things. Due to having more experience and knowledge from all sides, we are unable to remember more things with increasing age. Our forgetting process increases unnecessarily. This is very important and we should also explain it to the people around us. Mostly children who are going through a learning process. You should tell that you should only use your ability to think and understand in a meaningful direction only so that some desired results can be seen from it in future.
In my own experience I have experienced very deeply how small things in the process of development which give some kind of experience were hindering my constant struggle. If we keep this fact with us in time, then a lot of difficulties can be avoided. I agree that today’s youth is quite advanced, but I tell you one important thing. I have noticed that some talented youth speak of a special experience, which is popularly called as love. An experience that is giving painfully sweet experiences to some talented children in our society. This only hinders your growth and success. The sooner you understand this, the more you will be able to live a mentally balanced life.
If you have helplessness and need to build a relationship, then do not give more importance to those relationships so that you can be able to do something in future. It is a bizarre experience and we should avoid it until you become a successful person. If you keep restraint in speaking, listening, and seeing, then this process will continue to happen automatically, you will be able to make yourself a good and successful person. So more knowledge and experience can also be a hindrance in our success. I am not imposing my views on you. You are free to do anything but you must pay attention to my thoughts only once.

Can More Knowledge and Experience Stop You from Succeeding?

What are knowledge and experience? Perhaps the two are inseparable — complementary like a tree and its shadow. Where there is knowledge, experience follows. Without knowledge, experience has no foundation. Yet, both can either uplift or trap us, depending on how we use them. They can dissolve ego, or inflate it. It all depends on the kind of knowledge our mind holds.

This is an important subject — not just for personal growth but for building a better society and nation. Our brain has an incredible capacity to absorb knowledge. This is a unique gift of nature. In the early years of life, we live naturally, freely. But as we grow older, we become bound by rules, systems, expectations — and our learning journey begins. Over time, both knowledge and experience grow, as they should.

But I want to highlight a critical moment many of us face: the phase when we feel stuck, confused — like our brain has stopped working. Students often say, “I study, but I can’t remember anything. I used to be so sharp, but now I have to read the same thing again and again.” If you’ve felt this, you’re not alone — almost 90% of students experience it.

Why does this happen? As we grow, we collect knowledge and experiences from everywhere. Books, people, school, society — and slowly, we begin to believe we know everything. This creates an illusion of being “very knowledgeable,” which increases our ego and clouds our focus. We begin to chase too many things at once, switching goals and losing consistency. Over time, this leads to frustration, confusion, and even failure.

In today’s world, it is commonly believed that more knowledge and more experience equals more success. But that’s not always true. Sometimes, excessive knowledge and experience can be a block. They can kill your curiosity, stop you from trying new things, or make you think, “I already know this” — so you don’t even begin.

So what’s the solution?

As we evolve, we should focus on fewer, meaningful things instead of trying to master everything. Information overload leads to forgetfulness and mental fatigue. This is important not just for us but also for the younger generation — students especially. They must be taught to think critically and focus deeply in one direction, instead of trying to remember everything at once.

From my own experience, I’ve seen how tiny moments of ego or distractions in the name of “experience” can become hurdles in the path of growth. One such distraction that I’ve observed among talented youth is what we commonly call “love.” While love can be beautiful, when experienced too early or without emotional maturity, it often leads to emotional pain, loss of focus, and reduced ambition. It becomes a distraction from growth — not a support to it.

If you truly need to build a relationship, do it with balance. But don’t give it more importance than your personal development. Speak less, observe more, and listen carefully. This kind of discipline will help you build a strong and successful life.

So yes — too much knowledge and experience can become obstacles, if not handled mindfully. I’m not here to impose my views. You are free to choose your own path. But I ask only this: please consider these thoughts once.
