14. MOTIVATION: WHEN DOES IT BECOME DANGEROUS FOR YOU?

Motivation is a theoretical construct used to explain behaviour. It signals an individual to act in a certain way, or at least develops an inclination for a specific behaviour.

According to Meyer – “Motivation is part of a popular culture”. The word “Motivation” is derived from the word “Purpose” which means to develop the enthusiasm and desire within individuals to do a certain work.

Is motivation the fundamental requirement for us to succeed and live a better life? In the absence of motivation, humans experience a lack of enthusiasm. Motivation to live our life in a good direction and with a meaningful purpose is more important than anything else; is it not?

In our early life, when we are physically unable to do most of the work, our breath is an inspiration for survival. Our parents do everything possible to keep us alive and healthy. We do not understand what we have to do in life. Motivation does not give us better benefits at this stage of life.

If you do not get inspiration from your work, then you will not be able to do that work well. It is not found by searching for inspiration, it comes just by suddenly looking at something or a person. If you have more than one motivator in your life, it can be fatal for you. If you want to connect your life with a great purpose, to live a successful and great life, then you should take inspiration from any one person or object in your life. With this, if you do not get motivation from your work and goals, then you will spend a lot of time to reach your goal. If you try to live life with countless opinions of others, then it will become difficult to live this life. You will be lost You will always get tired of differentiating between right and wrong. Your goals will keep changing and eventually you will return to where you started.

When we are in the process of learning, in our early school years until around the age of 18, our curriculum includes inspiring stories and facts. I do not say that you should not read those stories; you absolutely should.

If you are autistic and are sincerely connected to your work, then you should not feel the need to seek inspiration from outside. Otherwise you can even move away from your target, go astray. You may have read more about the positive effect of motivation but it also has negative effects.

 Negative Effects of Motivation –

    •    Motivation can distract you from your goals, so it is important that you take inspiration from a reliable source at the right time.
    •   If you have lived more than a quarter of your life and are now you are searching for inspiration, then it can be fatal for you.
    •      If your habit is to take inspiration from the outer world, then you will see that many times you change the source of inspiration and that is why you remain close to success.
    •      If you are still small and you are in your school life, then the most important thing for you is to try to take inspiration from any one person or thing.
    •      All the great people have been inspired by their works, or there has been only one thing or motivator to inspire them in their life.
    •  Trust yourself. Take inspiration from yourself and keep moving forward.
